Watch the Big Screen at Half the Cost

With the temperature sky rocketing, sometimes during the summer one of the best ways to cool off is a trip to the movie theater.  You can be entertained by your favorite actors and actresses while the AC is pumping at such a frigid temperature for about 2 hours.

We joke that to see a movie in New York it costs $12, but honestly, you may not be visiting the theater at the right time.  If you are dying to see Inception or Toy Story 3, you may want to check those films out at these theaters.

Cobble Hill Cinemas in Brooklyn offers bargain prices on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. Whether you visit during the day or at night, all tickets are just $7, except on holidays or special engagements.  These prices may make you feel like you’ve taken a trip back to 1995, but Postabon member Nelsonkcheng tells us this deal is certainly true.

According to Postabon member QuePasaNYC, go for a late brunch and hit the movies up first.  At AMC Theaters, every movie before noon is $6.  If you’d prefer to see a 3-D or an IMAX movie, tickets are only $12, a savings of about $6.

If you don’t care about new releases and just prefer to see any movie while sitting in AC, consider heading to the movies on Tuesday at 10 am this summer.  AMC Cinemas is running a promotion where you can see a family movie for $1 this summer on Tuesdays at 10am.  Titles include Kung Fu Panda, Hotel for Dogs and more.  Thanks to Postabon member evienyc for sharing this deal with us!

If You Do Three Things This Weekend…

While we all love our jobs here at Postabon, we all have certainly been looking forward to the weekend.  If your office is anything like ours, we’re sure all of your colleagues are sharing their upcoming weekend plans.

If you are still looking for something to do over the weekend, check out some of these great ideas submitted by our Postabon users.

Museum of Modern Art:  Two exhibits have gotten tons of buzz at the MoMA lately. First, MoMA is featuing a Henri Cartier-Bresson photography exhibit, which has been rated 5 stars by Time Out New York.  According to the review, the show is broken up into two parts.  First, you’ll see Cartier-Bresson’s experimental works of the 1930s.  I’m more excited, however, to see the larger portion of the exhibit that covers his career as a photojournalist.  If photography isn’t your thing, then there is another exhibit that cannot be missed - Marina Abramovic’s “The Artist is Present.” This exhibit features naked performers all around the exhibit.  If you decide to visit this museum with friends, this exhibit will definitely be a conversation piece.  We suggest hitting up the museum tonight, as the MoMA is free on Fridays from 4-8 pm, according to Postabon member AndyLawren. (11 W. 53rd St, between 5th and 6th).

AMC Loews:  Let’s be honest - most weekends I don’t make it out of my apartment before noon.  But on that rare chance you wake up early this weekend, consider checking out a movie at AMC Loews.  According to Postabon member QuePasaNYC (who also runs her own blog, QuePasaNewYorkCity!), all movies starting before noon are only $6.  IMAX and 3-D movies are marked down to $12,  a savings of $6.  (Multiple locations).

Philip Marie:  Grab your roommate, significant other or whoever and rehash what happened over the weekend at Philip Marie’s Sunday night barbecue.  Every Sunday night, enjoy a two-course barbecue meal for $18.95, according to Postabon member Smalley.  Choose from blacked cajun catfish, triple cooked barbecue pork spare ribs or roasted half barbecue chicken.  My favorite part of the menu is the sides - mac and cheese, corn on the cob and grilled cornbread. What a great way to end the week! (569 Hudson St between W. 11th and Bank Street).
