You’re Going OUT for Lunch?

Last week, AM New York did a story on how in other parts of the world, people actually leave their desks for lunch - shocking, we know.  The midday meal is savored and enjoyed, rather than crammed into a person’s mouth over his or her keyboard.

With summer tending to be a bit slower for businesses her in the city, you may want to -gasp- leave your desk with some co-workers and enjoy a nice lunch out.  Wondering where to go that won’t leave your wallet empty?  To celebrate the other regions of the world that enjoy lunch, here are some affordable restaurants with delicious ethnic food that you may want to check out!

Feel like sushi? Head to Nori to find a delicious sushi special. For only $7.95, you can get two sushi rolls at this East Village establishment. If that doesn’t fill you up, just spend another $7.95 and make it 4 rolls! They also have a great selection of Japanese beers - so you may want to start boozing if it is a summer Friday.

Trying Thai?  Peep in Soho offers a great Thai lunch special.  For $7, you can get a 2-course Thai lunch special - an appetizer and an entree.  While you are enjoying your lunch out, check out the bathroom.  It was featured on the Travel Chanel for one of the most unique restaurant bathrooms!

Ohhh Mexico!  Arriba Arriba in Hell’s Kitchen offers a great deal on Monday through Friday from noon to four. For $8.95 enjoy an authentic Mexican entrée.  Why you should go on a summer Friday?  This meal includes a free margarita, sangria, wine or soda.

Class It Up!  If you want a classy meal, and your boss is paying the bill, consider heading to L’Ecole.  L’Ecole is where students of The French Culinary Institute’s Classic Culinary Arts Career Program impress guests with their cooking on a daily basis. For only $28, enjoy a three course French meal

Save Big on Lunch This Month!

For many, summer means weekend getaways.  It also means that come Monday morning, you realize you have nothing in your house to pack for lunch.

While purchasing lunch can be pricey (how many times have we seen those articles showing us how much we can save a year if we bring lunch?), it can be very convenient.  Luckily, several restaurants are running great lunch promotions this month, so if you need to head out for lunch, you won’t break the bank.

Can’t stand another $5 footlong from Subway?  Well, how about a $5 wrap from Energy Kitchen?  Now through the end of the month, Energy Kitchen is offering $5 wraps, all of which are healthy since nothing in the restaurant is over 500 calories.  According to Postabon member 89thandbroke, the Thai chicken wrap is great.

Burgers more your style? Postabon member Yaelleah informed us that Good Burger is offering 15% off online orders through the end of the month.  Use the code 15OFF to save at all locations.

If you’d rather get a whole meal complete with a drink and chips, consider heading to Quiznos.  Postabon member Crazybobby shared with us a coupon so you can get a small sub, a drink and chips for only $2.99.

What’s better than a lunch time Happy Hour that involves food?  Kool Bloo, which has four locations in the city, is offering a lunch time Happy Hour from 11am - 2pm.  Just order online between those hours and use the code HAPPYHOUR to receive 25% off your order.  Thanks again to Yaelleah for sharing this with us.

Top Tax Day Freebies!

While doing your taxes can be a bit of a pain, here at Postabon we are loving all of the promotions on tax day.  Still, with so many going on, we can get a little crazed trying to hit up every place in town just to save a few bucks.  Here are our top three favorites:

1).  Starbucks

Let’s face it – there is a Starbucks on every corner, so any promotion at Starbucks is convenient for everyone.  Today, in an effort to help the environment, Starbucks is offering free coffee to any patron who brings in a reusable travel mug, according to user brittcally.  Pass it over to your favorite barista, and you’ll be sipping on some free brewed coffee.   We’re all starting to take bets in our office on how often Josh, one of our tech guys, visits the Starbucks next door today.

2).  Energy Kitchen

Any place that offers a free lunch guarantees a long line – and guarantees we’ll all take a long lunch just to save a few bucks.  Similar to previous years, user jboyaval tell us that Energy Kitchen is offering free lunch wraps to New Yorkers who purchase a beverage.  Choose from a Bison Cheesesteak Wrap, California Wrap or a Buffalo Chicken Burger.  In addition to the free food, brand ambassadors from glacéau vitaminwater zero, Pirate’s Booty® and GETfit by FITTERWITH will be at each location, giving away prizes and free samples.

3).  McCormick and Schmick’s

Now that you’ve gotten your morning coffee and lunch for free, how about a dinner, priced at a discount? Cozy up at the bar at McCormick and Schmick’s for $10.40 drink and dinner specials.  If that’s not enough of a reason to go, the restaurant will be handing out $10.40 gift certificates to use during a future visit – while supplies last.  Have a friend who is a tax preparer that can’t make it?  Encourage him or her to visit the Midtown restaurant tomorrow, April 16.  Any tax preparers with a business card receive a complimentary dessert with purchase of an entrée, as well as a $10.40 gift certificate.  Thanks to community member 89thandbroke for this deal!
