Kick the Weekend off Right

It’s the first weekend of June and there will be no shortage of fun in in New York City. Yesterday we did a post on some of the great deals going on at some of the hottest NYC night clubs, but we realize that not everyone is into the “club scene.” With that in mind, we here at Postabon wanted to include some of our suggestions for great deals going on in Manhattan and Brooklyn at places where you’ll be less likely to run into someone from the cast of “Jersey Shore.”

Need a change from your usual Friday night? Head over to Brooklyn to check out Beer Garden Fridays at BKLYN Yard. They are offering no cover, live local DJ’s and bands, and a rotating selection of local hand-crafted beers. Free entry, live music, and beer? Count us in.

The Brooklyn Museum is offering free admission on the first Saturday of every month, and just our luck that is this Saturday! Check out the museum from 5 to 11pm for all sorts of events. From 5-7pm is a jazz show performed by the fantastic J.C. Hopkins Biggish Band. From 6:30 to 8pm is hands-on art, so get ready to get your hands dirty and make a collage. If you’re lucky maybe they will make your work an exhibit. Also going down at the Museum is other free live music and a curator talk. The real fun begins at 9 with a dance competition where anyone can enter and bust a move against NYC’s Vogue Dance Team. If you arent feeling the competitive edge, just join into the spontaneous dance party.

Sunday afternoon you should grab your significant other and head over to the Red Room for the 3pm show SWALLOW. You will see this provocative and hilarious show during its last performance, which is sure to be fun for an adult crowd. Tickets are FREE so make sure to catch this show before it is too late!
